ABOUT US

Ginger Cactus Art (GCA) is a group of diverse artists established through a collective spirit to showcase and exhibit the unique art that is emerging at this time. First and foremost, it is a collective on-line gallery there to open virtual doors and allow the viewer to enjoy looking at each artist’s wonderful work from the comfort of their own home.

GCA is not a selling site but all our artists advertise their prices on their works. Links under their biographies will take you to each artist’s personal site, enabling you to peruse their work further and to buy if you choose.  No financial transactions are handled through this site.

We hope that you will enjoy what we have on show and will visit the site regularly as new artists join us. Please feel free to contact us with any questions via the link provided.

How it began...

Ginger  Cactus Art  is the brainchild of one of its members, Alison G Saunders.

Many emerging artists need to get their work seen but find the fees charged by high profile exhibitions prohibitive. Early in 2020 Alison set up ‘The Exhibition Collective’, a group run by its members to exhibit their artwork without paying fees and commissions to others. Their first show was held in February 2020 at Denbies Vineries near Dorking in Surrey, UK.

March 2020 brought the COVID-19 lockdown and opportunities to exhibit rapidly evaporated. Not to be put off, Alison decided that this wonderful group of artists should not be beaten, so decided to create an online, virtual ‘exhibition’ and gallery. As all art-related names had, apparently, either been used or sounded like other groups, a crazy, off-the-wall creative title seemed the right way to go and thus GCA was born and in June 2020 the team launched the website along with Instagram and Facebook accounts to promote the work of  it’s 30 founding artists.
